Commission an explosive ordnance disposal service

If you are planning a building project, you can have your property inspected in advance by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service. This service uses aerial photographs to check whether your property is free of explosive ordnance. The aerial photographs were taken by the American and British air forces during the Second World War.

If the aerial image analysis reveals suspected explosive ordnance or if explosive ordnance is suspected or found there, you must have it properly removed.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service is responsible for this. It takes over the

  • Defusing explosive ordnance,
  • Transporting recovered explosive ordnance and
  • Destruction of explosive ordnance, including the utilisation of the resulting material.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service provides advice on suspected explosive ordnance as well as the search for and recovery of explosive ordnance within the scope of its capacity and against full reimbursement of costs by the client. If the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service is unable to take action, you must commission private companies to carry out this work.
