Apply for insurance benefits in the event of a claim
The state government of Baden-Württemberg has taken out flat-rate accident and liability insurance for people involved in civic and voluntary work. Insurance cover is subsidiary for all volunteers.

Prerequisite
The insurance covers civic and voluntary workers for the common good who carry out their activities in Baden-Württemberg or whose activities originate in Baden-Württemberg.
Procedure
Accident insurance: The insurance cover is subsidiary. Private accident insurance is not taken into account. The risk of travelling is also insured. Insurance cover is also provided for civic and honorary/voluntary workers in legally independent structures, provided they do not belong to the employers' liability insurance association.
Liability insurance: The insurance cover is subsidiary. In the event of a claim, any other existing liability insurance must be paid in advance. The activity must take place in legally dependent structures. In this respect, clubs, associations, limited liability companies (GmbHs), foundations and so on are not released from the obligation to provide insurance cover for their volunteers.
Deadlines
Accident insurance:
In the event of the accidental death of an injured person, the insurer must be notified within 48 hours! Any disability damage must have occurred within one year of the accident and must be medically certified and reported to Ecclesia Versicherungsdienst GmbH within a further six months. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the cancellation of claims.
Liability insurance:
Ecclesia Versicherungsdienst GmbH must be notified in writing immediately (within one week) of becoming aware of any claim for damages.

There are obligations to provide information and clarification as part of the notification of claim.
